Silicone breast implants; they have two shapes, circular and anatomical (drops). Round prostheses and anatomical prostheses are divided into structured or smooth (soft) surfaces. Both types of prostheses have variants with a low, medium and high profile. Do Silicone Breast Implants Prevent Milk From Being Produced?
Silicone breast implants are never placed in the breast tissue. They are placed under the breast tissue, under the muscle membrane or under the muscle. In other words, the mammary glands and milk ducts that provide milk production and secretion are in front of the prostheses. Accordingly, people with silicone breast implants can breastfeed their babies easily and after birth. Only when the incision is made around the nipple can breastfeeding be problematic. For this reason, it is not advisable to place the prosthesis around the nipple if you are considering pregnancy.
Where Should The Cut Or Scar Be?
An incision can be made at 3 different locations to perform a breast prosthesis. These are the inframammary fold, the edge of the colored part (areola) around the nipple and the armpit incisions. Depending on the selection, a scar of about 3.5 to 4 cm in length remains in one of the areas of the nipple, nipple circumference or armpit. This scar may be reddish at first, but becomes paler afterwards and becomes less visible after about 6 months and a year less. These scars have advantages and disadvantages.
