What does eyelid surgery mean?

Eyelid correction; the excess, sagging skin or tear lacrimal glands and the fatty tissue around the eyes are partially removed and corrected to achieve a healthier and more aesthetic appearance. Instead of eyelid correction, the term blepharoplasty is also used.

What problems cause droopy eyelids and eye bags?

The sagging and droopy skin of the upper eyelid and the swollen bags under the eyes give people the feeling of being constantly tired and looking old. This tired and outdated expression dominates the entire face, even though the face is in good condition. That’s because our eyes are the basis of our facial expression.

How does the eyelid age?

Some people have sagging eyelids or eye-catching bags under their eyes. It shows up at a very young age. It is a process that most people develop with age. The eyelid skin is short and tight in young people. With age, the skin of the upper eyelid relaxes and forms a second layer over time. In severe cases, this skin fold extends to the eyelash roots and can even cross this line and get into the visual field. Because such a drooping causes the need to lift the eyelids excessively, the person is constantly tired all day, but the person is not aware of this situation as this situation gradually develops over the years. The lower eyelid slackens and begins to sag, therefore wrinkles and bags under the eyes are formed. In addition to slackening the skin, the fat pads around the eyeball step forward and herniate over time. The reason for this may be that the tissue that holds these fat pads in place weakens with age or the amount of this fat tissue increases.

At what age is eyelid surgery done?

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is usually required between the ages of 30 and 40. If the rest of the face is in good shape at this age, only with these applications can the face be rejuvenated very effectively. In older years, blepharoplasty (eyelid correction) can be done along with operations such as face lifting, eyebrow lifting and forehead lifting to rejuvenate the entire face.

How is eyelid surgery done?

Eyelid surgery is usually done under local anesthesia. In order to relieve the patient, soothing medication is administered to the patient at the same time in order to be able to provide a stress-free and pain-free operation. As the years progressed, blepharoplasty (eyelid correction) can be performed along with operations such as face lifting, eyebrow lifting and forehead lifting to rejuvenate the entire face.

What are the new applications in eyelid aesthetics?

In recent years, removal and replacement treatments have become more popular in eyelid aesthetics rather than removing subcutaneous tissues and fats. Upon careful examination of the bags under the eyes, it is decided that these are caused by the loss of subcutaneous fat, which we tend to call teardrops. With such problems, it is easier to get natural results using fillings and fat injections rather than removing the tissue.
